Carl W. Swan – Chairman
Mr. Swan has over 50 years experience in the energy and related natural resources business. He has been an industry partner with numerous independent producers and major oil companies, both public and private. He has also served as consultant to a host of the world’s top geologists, drillers, operators and related energy concerns that would read as the who’s who in the oil and gas industry. Mr. Swan’s background and contacts within the industry are vast and key industry leaders regularly seek him out for his valued opinion. He has personal contacts at the highest levels in companies such as Chesapeake Energy, Devon Energy, SandRidge Energy, Boone Pickens Capital and many others.
Mr. Swan’s formal education is from the University of New Mexico where he holds B.S. degree. Combined with years of hands on experience in the oilfield, Mr. Swan has become a well known figure. Over the years, Mr. Swan enjoyed significant political influence at the White House and with Presidents. He was a personal friend of US President Ronald Reagan.
About Us
Swan Petroleum Corporation was established in 1976 by Carl W. Swan. The Company is organized as a private company and well suited to address domestic and international oilfield development programs.
The Company’s business has grown out of the owners’ collective 110 years of oilfield service and operating experience, as well as high level relationships in the global oil industry. SPC is lead by a very experienced team of oilfield executives, all of whom have extensive onshore and offshore drilling operation and drilling rig equipment experience. Most have either owned drilling rig contracting companies or managed rig contracting companies at the highest management levels. In addition, the key executives have broad experience at senior executive levels in the oilfield business partnerships and successful international operations management. International drilling and well completion experience include regions such as Latin America, Southeast Asia, Middle East, FSU countries, and others.
In addition to founding Swan Petroleum Corporation, Mr. Swan has owned and operated numerous other successful Drilling Companies, including Intrepid Drilling, Continental Drilling, Longhorn Oil and Gas Company, Basin Drilling and others. During his career, Mr. Swan has owned and operated over 125 land drilling rigs – all drilling rigs owned have been 900hp or larger.
Combined with years of hands on experience in the oilfield, Mr. Swan is well known figure. Over the years, Mr. Swan has also enjoyed significant political influence at the White House and with several US Presidents. He was a personal friend of US Presidents Ronald Reagan and Gerald Ford.
